It was a beautiful day

DSCN0399

Ullswater, Cumbria

Last weekend, my sisters, brother and their partners joined Bill and me to lay my parents to rest. My father, Eric Fowler had been at sea all his working life and had spent many happy hours with my mother Patricia up in the Lake District. They spent long summers in this part of the country and had a sailing boat on this very lake. My parents ashes were combined and we took them on one of the lake steamers, lowered them in to the middle of the lake and then drank champagne – the sun shone and the scenery looked simply wonderful. After we landed, we  danced to their favourite music on the wooden jetty and then out to dinner for the evening. A lovely ending!

I knew an Eric Fowler in Dover who said his daughter was a cross-stitch designer. I’m sorry to hear of his passing.

What a wonderful way to say goodbye to obviously very loving and caring parents.
